MSTC to host worker shortage talk
June 4, 2012
From wisconsinrapidstribune.com: “MSTC to host worker shortage talk” — Wisconsin’s Technical Colleges are partnering with Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce to address the shortages of skilled workers in manufacturing.
Each technical college is hosting a special event to discuss Wisconsin’s workforce paradox: employers, especially manufacturers, having difficulty finding qualified workers for open positions during this period of high unemployment.
Mid-State Technical College will hold its session from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room L133/134 on the Wisconsin Rapids Campus. There is no cost to attend.
WMC Foundation President Jim Morgan will discuss the results of over 50 listening sessions with more than 300 manufacturing representatives. He also will share strategies aimed at resolving the workforce shortage, including collection of best practices, a public awareness campaign, and assisting community and regional initiatives.
